A friend and I ate early breakfast at the Little Corner Restaurant (LCR.) The environment indicates that this restaurant goes back in history. While I could not find an establishment date, the restaurant transferred ownership in July of 2016, before-which the name was Corner Diner. If I get around to record searching at our Edgewater Historical Society, I’ll update the historical information here.
The food was exceptional for the American flare. What I liked about their menu is they coupled same ingredients for either an omelette style or skillet style. Personally I love skillets and because skillets are a difficult find for me, I will be returning, giving business to this restaurant.
In an unusual circumstance for the LCR, we arrived at the time of opening; only that their cook was the only person working while the waitress was running late. Despite a sense of futility in getting breakfast the cook was trusting enough to invite and serve us. He did an excellent job accepting the capacities of not just cooking our food, also checking in on use regularly, providing more coffee and water as well as taking and delivering our order. The only capacity he did not have was being able to tally our bill and process payments. By the time we finished our meals is when the waitress arrived, timely. I had prepared a card with my number for compensation. For the mountain of food ordered the price was very reasonable.
For anyone looking for a classic diner environment and enjoy the American diner flare, I highly recommend this place. Personally for me it brought back good memories of a different diner that my Grampa invited me to a similar diner run by husband and wife couple. There they also had booths and bar. I always enjoyed the bar as that invites socials more among strangers and workers.
The LCR opens daily and weekend days at 7:00am. They serve from breakfast to dinner. And they are a block away from the Thorndale Redline stop. You can also get a ride to it using the Peterson bus.
